Privacy policy
This policy explains what tryorbell, Inc. does with personal data. It is written to be read, not to be survived. If anything here is unclear, email privacy@tryorbell.com and a person will answer.
1. Two kinds of people
We hold data about customers (businesses who buy tryorbell and the staff who use the dashboard) and callers (people who phone a business using tryorbell). For caller data we act as a processor on the customer's instructions; the business you called is the controller.
2. What we collect
- From customers: name, work email, phone number, business details, billing information, and dashboard activity logs.
- From callers: phone number, call audio, the transcript of the call, and any details given during it, such as a name or appointment preference.
- Automatically: IP address, browser type and pages viewed on this website, through two first-party cookies.
3. Why we hold it
To connect and answer calls, to book appointments, to bill you, to detect fraud and abuse, and to meet legal obligations. That is the whole list.
4. What we do not do
- We do not sell personal data. There is no arrangement under which anyone pays us for it.
- We do not train models on customer recordings or transcripts.
- We do not use call content for advertising, our own or anyone else's.
5. How long we keep it
Call recordings and transcripts are kept for the retention period the customer chooses — 7, 30, 90 or 365 days, or indefinitely. Deleting a call in the dashboard removes it from live systems immediately and from backups within 30 days. Account and billing records are kept for seven years where tax law requires it.
6. Who else sees it
A short list of sub-processors: cloud hosting, telephony carriage, speech processing, payment handling and email delivery. The current list with locations is published at tryorbell.com/security, and we give 30 days' notice before adding to it.
7. Where it lives
Each account is pinned to one region: United States, European Union, United Kingdom, Singapore or Australia. Call data is processed and stored in that region. Transfers out of the EEA and UK, where they occur for support purposes, rely on Standard Contractual Clauses.
8. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may request access to your data, correction, deletion, a portable copy, or that we stop certain processing. Email privacy@tryorbell.com; we respond within 30 days and do not charge. If you were a caller rather than a customer, we will route your request to the business you called and help them action it.
9. Children
tryorbell is a business product and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16 except incidentally, where a young person calls a business using the service — in which case it is treated exactly as any other call record and deleted on request.
10. Changes
Material changes are emailed to account owners at least 30 days before they take effect. The date at the top of this page always reflects the current version.
